Family in Seattle……

December 1, 2009

And the saga continues ……… I mean introducing the  next batch of students to formally join my “family”.

I did the Colorado candidates earlier and now I am moving on to Seattle.

Starting with Peter Morson and here’s a little something written by Chas, the Wing Chun Sifu over at the Seattle school :-

“Peter’s interest in the martial arts began at the age of 7 when he became hooked on Kung Fu Theater on Saturday afternoons.  Around that same time he started taking boxing lessons from his father and uncles.  He has dabbled in various systems such as Tae Kwon Do, Muay Thai, and a few Shaolin styles, but didn’t find a home until being introduced to Wing Chun in Atlanta in 1995.  Peter moved to Seattle in 2000 and visited all of the Wing Chun schools in the area, but couldn’t find the right fit.  Every year or so, he would check to see if a new school opened in the area.  In late 2006, Peter discovered Sifu Chas Fisher’s school in Ballard and started training in January of 2007.  Sifu Chas introduced Peter to White Crane as well and Peter accompanied his Sifu to Malaysia to train with White Crane Sifu Eric Ling.  Peter has found a home with White Crane and Wing Chun and became Sifu Chas’ formal disciple in March of 2009.

In addition to Kung Fu, Peter has many other interests.  After many years in the restaurant business, he loves to cook and entertain.  Peter also enjoys reading, science and a good debate.  He is also a rookie WWII history buff.”

Personally, my feeling of Peter is that the “beginner’s mind” is still strong and that is so important with any Kung Fu journey…..

The day you make your mind up that you’re no longer a “beginner”, that’s when the journey stops.

Which is why, after all these years, I’m still a beginner.
