玄女拳 Xuan Nu

June 2, 2009

Again from wikipedia :-

Five Ancestors Fist is a Southern Chinese martial art that consists of techniques from five different styles:

The combination of these five styles and their characteristic techniques were during the creation of the Five Ancestor System, consolidated by a sixth influence; Xuan Nu also known as Hian Loo(玄女拳).[6] ‘The Lady in the Green Dress,’ who introduced the most deadly of its techniques Dim Mak lethal strikes to the pressure points of the body.

So who is Xuan Nu?

Depending on who you’re talking to….. I must have like some 4 different descriptions of this Xuan Nu.

Around here, Xuan Nu is also a deity that you sometimes find in Daoist temples.

Like this one that I visited recently…..

And also, black, yellow, green, yellow and white flags are important bits and pieces that you’ll see in almost all temples.

Yes, they represent “secret societies” and often, the various CKF related to these underground groups.

Myths and fictions? Well if you are living in some faraway countries where “Chinese culture lite” is the flavor of the day, you might just think that.

Around here, it’s still a part of Chinese consciousness fabric.

The sun that shines and the moon that glows

Ming will always be in my heart for all my days.
