Peter Tan.

July 27, 2008

Here’s another youtube view of Peter Tan, the Hakka Mantis Sifu who was part of our Penang MA show last year.

I was talking to Peter about a week ago, he is based in Miri and comes to Kuching every now and then.

When he does, we usually find time to hang out at one of the corner coffee shops and talk, among other things, his unique Hakka Mantis.

Hmmm, got to persuade him to demo more for my camera……

What a nice surprise – received a postcard from Chas sent from Europe somewhere and he wrote that it’s from the birthplace of beer…. Must be a mythical location – nobody makes beer better than Carlsberg….nobody!

Well, some of my US students and friends are visiting this November and I thought it’s time to put up another clip of snapshots from around Kuching.

The song you hear in the background is sung by a Singaporean songstress, Chang Siao Ying.

During her heydays in the 70s and 80s, her songs could be heard playing in every radio station in every street corner and alley……

Kuching kinda remind me of Singapore in the 80s – at least certain parts still does.

Well, you know what they say; you got “MasterCard” for this and that but to live thru the 70s and 80s again, that is priceless…..

For me, “priceless” pretty much describes Kuching……
