Yes, a long time ago because this IS a traditional form.
I know I know, the performer is from the mainland, dressed like a monk (he is!) and looks like he is doing “Wushu” but this is a well-known Northern staff form that I have seen many CKF folks do in Northern Shaolin.
Eeeerhh, now that we are on the topic of “tiger and sheeps/lambs”, I got another form named “Seize Lamb” staff somewhere.
In fact (RAM problem again) you know what? there are several staff forms, found in diverse styles northern and southern, with the name “Seize Lamb”.
Maybe I got to take a closer look and maybe that “Real Kung Fu” article is spot-on right; many staff forms did come out of Siu Lam/Shaolin.
Ouch! with so many tigers seizing lambs in old time China, now we know why they are silent.
